Is JEST and IIT JAM the Same?
No — JAM and JEST are two different national-level exams. JAM (conducted by IITs) is for admission to M.Sc. and postgraduate programmes at IITs and IISc. JEST (conducted by DST) is for Ph.D. and integrated Ph.D. programmes in Physics, Theoretical Computer Science, Neuroscience and Computational Biology at institutes like IISc, TIFR, ICTS and NISER. Both require rigorous preparation in core science subjects and are worth preparing for together.

Who is Eligible for IIT JAM 2026?
Any candidate holding a Bachelor's degree (or appearing in their final year) in a relevant science subject is eligible for IIT JAM. There is no age limit. You must have at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD). The specific eligibility varies by test paper.
