JAM Test Details
- JAM means Joint Entrance Test for M.Sc. i.e. an All India entrance exam that is conducted by IIT for engineering aspirants who either want to pursue M.Sc., joint M.Sc.-PhD, M.Sc.-PhD dual degree and other postgraduate and integrated PhD programmes offered by IIT’s and IISc. It’s conducted in seven subjects including Chemistry, biotechnology, mathematics, geology, physics, mathematical statistics and economics (added since 2011). You can either appear in one or two test papers (choose on different schedules). But, before applying online for this examination, make sure you fulfil all the eligibility criteria mentioned on the admission form. Also, note the banks no longer sell these application forms, so you will need to apply for them online only.
- JEST is a joint entrance screening test i.e. a national level exam conducted for admission to PhD or integrated PhD programme in Theoretical Computer Science or Neuroscience or Computational Biology in one of the participating institutes such as IIA, IISc, ICTS, IISR, NISER, IIPR and many others. Some participating institutes have their own eligibility criteria’s, check them before applying for this examination. It is conducted once every year.
