Is Navodaya coaching necessary or
can my child self-study?
Several students clear JNV every year through self-study. That is a fact. The question is not whether coaching is necessary — it is whether coaching will improve your child's specific outcome given where they are starting from.
- Child is scoring above 80% in practice papers consistently
- Strong Mental Ability skills — patterns and figures come naturally
- 10+ months before the target exam date
- Parent can source and review previous year papers regularly
- MAT is a weak area — patterns and figures are unfamiliar
- Child has never seen the JNV paper format before
- Less than 6 months before the exam
- Preparing for multiple exams — JNV + Sainik + Morarji
- Child needs structured mock tests and external accountability
The value of Navodaya coaching is not the content — NVS provides sample papers. The value is in the structure, the MAT-specific training, the mock test feedback loop, and the accountability. Self-study can cover the syllabus. Coaching covers the gaps.
